55 It should be said that while Fantasy Football League started out as an alternative show for nerds like me, Baddiel and Skinner would of course go on to write the official England song of Euro 96, ‘Three Lions’, with Ian Broudie. A song that went to number one, was sung by the nation and remains the greatest football song of all time (jog on ‘World in Motion’ fans, it doesn’t even mention football till John Barnes turns up with his rap). However, like any true fan, I preferred life when Baddiel and Skinner were just an exclusive late-night thing.

56 Full disclosure: Exeter City and Torquay United were actually nearer to our house but Plymouth were that little bit better so I chose them. What a startling lack of ambition to be a glory supporter but to still only choose Plymouth Argyle.
